City Mystic Spring, Part 2- The Long Haul

City Mystic Spring, Part 2- The Long Haul

Last time I told you all about my sad ride down to the pearly gates of SFO, only to be turned down at the door. By that time I was already pretty tattered internally from all the change happening around me and within me. I didn’t tell you, however, about the spiritual urgings that primed me before that day. Let’s go back to Reader’s Studio for a moment… After writing my last blog entry I went back and revisited that intention card I told you about. What I wrote was a little different in wording than I thought, yet interesting. My intention for the weekend was to develop “Total self-trust, step fully into myself, completion of self-integration.” Yeah. Much taller order than I even remembered. That’s me though, always looking for the tallest mountain to climb and assuming that no matter what, I can climb it. Leave it to a Capricorn Sun conjunct South Node in the Fifth House… The thing about Reader’s Studio is that it was good for me, REALLY good for me on a number of levels. Not only did I earn back my costs (which were substantial), get the word out about City Mystic, learn a TON about Tarot, meet my personal Tarot heroine Mary K. Greer (whom I had the tremendous pleasure of being placed next to in the marketplace), make wonderful new friends with many kindred spirits, and get to bring my City Mystic • New York baby home, but I also conquered something within myself that surfaced a long time ago. Something I was not able to reckon with until...

AstroTAROT ’14 Forecast

This week Magnum Opus delves deep into the archetypal mysteries through the dual portal of Astrology and Tarot. Based on the correspondence system set forth by the Golden Dawn, we peer into the major transits of 2014 through their Tarot counterparts. We define the energetic pulse of the year Numerologically and describe several angles of these archetypal ballets. This episode is a multi-media archetypal extravaganza! Not to be missed. Last year’s show proved to be terribly helpful (it will be reposed soon- the entire cast is migrating from podomatic where it was audio only. All previous episodes are being re-mastered in video, so stay tuned!). Card images used are of the Rider-Waite[-Smith] deck. All photos are property of Ginnie Jester. Healing with Tarot BONUS VIdeo

One of my favorite things about working with Tarot is the facet of the system that lends itself to nearly all other spiritual systems in some way. Perhaps a more accurate description is to say that, with a little thought and research, one can find a way to relate Tarot to almost any other system, tradition, religion of spiritual seeking.     For example, when working with the Strength card of the Major Arcana, card #8, one contemplates what the card truly means. In the traditional Rider-Waite[-Smith] deck, (which I use exclusively to teach with), a woman is pictured gently peering into the mouth of a lion, suggesting she is there to help. Above her head is the sign of infinity, or a Lemniscate to be more precise, which simply means “adorned with ribbons”. Its a term that comes from the 17th century Greek island of Lemnos and refers to the closed loops formed typically in braids, for example. She neither looks afraid nor tense as she kindly coaxes the beasts mouth open, presumably to attend to its needs and assure its wellbeing. Thinking of the card’s number, 8, one can begin to make free associations… 8, the symbol of infinity turned upright… arachnids are 8-legged and therefore are able to move quickly… the ever elusive “8th Chakra”… and, of course, the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism. All of the cards can work this way, especially when working with structured correspondence systems such as that of the Golden Dawn or Ettellia. I have taken to adhering more strictly to the correspondence system set forth by the Hermetic Order of...
